PRIVATE CATARACT SPECIALIST

Simon has a wealth of experience in cataract surgery and is happy to see patients with cataract from all over the country, with no need for a referral. His practice is exclusively at The Wye Clinic in central Hereford, a luxurious private clinic that Simon co-owns and established in 2021. The Wye Clinic is focused on patient experience, with state-of-the-art technology and wonderful reviews.

A full, in-person cataract consultation with Simon & his team at The Wye Clinic typically takes around an hour, with multiple laser scans and high-tech measurements allowing clear advice about how best to proceed with your cataract. The extreme level of scan accuracy and precision – coupled with intraoperative image-guidance technology – allows the safe use of premium lenses, where desired. When used, such lenses can greatly reduce your need for spectacles after surgery, in many cases giving patients the best vision that they have ever had.

“… world-class standards in premium lens alignment…”

INNOVATION & RESEARCH

Simon has a long history of innovation in ophthalmology and Herefordshire in general. He introduced corrective laser eye surgery to Hereford as well as digital image-guidance technology, the latter leading to outstanding world-class standards in premium lens alignment.

His work in research & development has won many national prizes, including at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists annual congress, the United Kingdom & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society and the Royal College of Surgeons. “… there is no need to wait…”

CATARACT

If you have symptoms from cataract, such as glare or reduced vision, there is no need to wait; NHS-rationing criteria do not apply for patients choosing to be seen privately. You can seek the benefits of cataract surgery as soon as your cataracts are causing you any difficulties and you do not need to wait until your cataracts are “ripe”.

A cataract procedure is possibly the most important procedure that you will ever have, restoring your vision and typically reducing your dependence on spectacles. Surgery needs to be done to a high standard – with great attention to detail – and there are multiple pitfalls to avoid along the way. Don’t leave the decision of choosing the right surgeon to chance.
