Personal life: Amun is married to Elizabeth. He enjoys long country rambles, running and is a keen member of the National Trust.

Amun Sachdev is a consultant ophthalmologist specialising in micro-incision (“keyhole”) cataract surgery and glaucoma. His consultant NHS practice is with Wye Valley NHS Trust.

Mr Sachdev studied medicine at Merton College, Oxford University, and graduated with Distinction in 2012.

He completed specialist ophthalmology training whilst working within many of the hospitals in the West Midlands and ultimately gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He then completed the prestigious fellowship post in Bristol for sub-specialist training in glaucoma, during which he developed further experience in the diagnosis of different forms of glaucoma and the medical and surgical management options that can be provided.

Over the course of his training, Mr Sachdev has developed expertise in complex cataract surgery. He also undertakes different types of glaucoma surgery, so that he can offer the best option to each individual patient if surgery is required. This includes new, state-of-the-art “micro-invasive” techniques that have been recently developed to manage glaucoma.

Mr Sachdev is widely published in many scientific papers within peer-reviewed journals and is passionate about training the next generation of ophthalmologists. He is a member of the UK & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons and the UK & Éire Glaucoma Society.
